Introduction

AL-SHIFA TRUST is a Special School and Centre for Rehabilitation. This charitable institution was founded in 1967 by the few kind-hearted wives of the officers of Pakistan International Airlines (P.I.A.C.) and Civil Aviation Authority (C.A.A.) for the relief and rehabilitation of poor victims of polio and other motor disorder. For this purpose, a building was acquired from Civil Aviation Authority at Karachi Airport, Karachi where they started to provide the relief and rehabilitation services to the disabled children and adults.

In the early years of its existence, arrangements were made for the treatment of Polio, frozen shoulder, paraplegia, myopathy, hemiplegia and forticolus cases. In the past few years, however, an all out effort was made by the Government to eradicate this evil by introducing the immunization program in which Al-Shifa also played its vital part.

Now by the passage of time Al-Shifa Trust has improved a lot and undoubtedly a most modern centre of the country where we are dealing with the children who are suffering from cerebral palsy and other motor disorder.

Al-Shifa Trust mostly depends on donations from its well wishers and friends. This is the only way by which we can survive and continue to provide our services to this most privileged segment of the society.
